Dumpster and Marge's Story

Dumpster and her mother Marge are our two oldest residents at Fat Manx. We consider them a bonded pair, and would like to adopt them out together.
Dumpster is usually shy, but likes to socialize from a distance. She is not the most affectionate cat at first, but once you earn her trust, she can be very sweet. We know the right human can open her heart right up! Dumpster can often be spotted peeking out of the Sanctuary’s windows, and is content to spend her time people-watching. She would thrive in a home with large windows or bird feeders, as she gets so excited by feather toys she starts chittering!
Marge was a full adult by the time she arrived at Fat Manx with her litter, fur singed from a car engine. She is, understandably, on the skittish side, but we think once she is in an environment with a cat she trusts (Dumpster), her personality will finally get a chance to shine.

Dumpster and Marge would do best in a quiet home with an established routine to participate in. While they are kind to children, we recommend a child-free home. We do not recommend a home with dogs. Overall, they would be at their happiest as the only pets in the house. While they have specific needs, we know the right family will open their sweet hearts up.

While we understand this request is astronomically slim, we recommend that Marge and Dumpster be adopted with Bob (pictured brown Japanese Bobtail) — the three of them are very comfortable with each other and probably will adjust well to almost any environment together.

We allow potential adopters to come to our sanctuary and meet the animal they are interested in. If the adopter has dogs, we ask them to bring their dog over to observe interaction with their potential adoptee. We meet all family members. We are a small community in the Hill Country area, so we often know them personally. After that, they sign a contract for care, we provide their up-to-date paperwork and tags, and hope to receive updates of the cat’s new, happy home!
