Dumpling's Story
Meet Dumpling, a petite guy who is small in stature but robust in personality who along with many other cats were in a home, allowed to breed uncontrollably, and when the elderly owner died, no one to care for the cats. These indoor cats were forced out of the home into the outside with no shelter, food, water, etc. A terribly sad situation. Trappers were able to trap many cats and 10 made their way to Second Chance earlier this year.

Dumpling was adopted shortly after arrival at Second Chance and after a few months he was returned. The adopters adopted a second cat and claim Dumpling didn't adjust. Dumpling has had numerous roommates at the shelter without any problem. He engages in play with some of them. Perhaps the adopters didn't follow the recommended introduction times.

Dumpling is a bit tentative. When he is laying down and approached slowly he accepts and melts into pets. If startled he may give out a little hiss but it isn't threatening it's more of a "you scared me and I do not know your intentions". The way to Dumpling's heart is play and treats. Get out a wand toy or break open a Churu and he is all in. He is a sweet soul and needs someone who can look past that nervous demeanor.

Dumpling would do best in a quieter, routine home with a patient adopter. A single person or couple, possibly a family with older respectful kids. Dumpling needs an adopter willing to provide play time, gentle pets, and treats. With some dedication, Dumpling will become a real charmer. Our Dumpling, just like the food, has something yummy inside, waiting for that special someone to discover. Dumpling would probably do best in a home with another friendly, confident kitty.

Dumpling has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Dumpling has an approximate birthdate of 08/01/2024. His adoption fee is $95.

If you are interested in Dumpling or any of the cats at Second Chance Cats of West Michigan, go to sccatswm.org/adopt to fill out an application, or stop in during open hours on Fridays from 11-2 or Saturdays and Sundays from 11-4.

Please note - we can only adopt to those who live within a one hour drive of Grand Rapids.

Thank you!
