She is a former barn cat who transformed from a sass machine to a pet seeking girl. Both of her girls are usually around her looking for comfort. She LOVES pets and treats. She is really shy and reserved at first, but once pets are involved, she follows the volunteers to rub herself against them and show her belly. We want Duchess to go to a quiet household where she can continue to be her calm self. We do not recommend a house with children since she can get stressed by noise and rapid movements.

Lighthouse Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy

We do not adopt on a first-come-first-serve basis, but rather by the best match between dog and family, although we will factor in the order of applications if there are equally good matches. Visitors at our shelter are by appointment only and are limited to those who have submitted applications. 1. Submit Application: https://www.lighthouseanimalshelter.org/application-instructions 2. Volunteers review your application. 3. After review, you will be contacted to set up an appointment. 4. Home Check: Some pets require a home visit. In some cases, a home visit is not required. It depends on factors such as fencing, children, & other pets. 5. Sign Adoption Contract: You will receive all medical paperwork, a new leash and collar, and food your new pet is used to eating.
