Duchess's Story
Duchess first came to the shelter when her owner, who loved her very much, sadly had nowhere left to go with her. Losing the only home she knew was incredibly hard, but we hoped that her story would have a happy ending when she was adopted into what seemed like a wonderful, loving home.

Unfortunately, life didn’t quite work out the way anyone had hoped. Duchess tried her best, but sharing a home with another cat was simply too stressful for her. Through no fault of her own, she has now found herself back at the shelter for a second time.

In her home, Duchess showed us who she truly is. She was a chatty, affectionate girl who loved following her people from room to room just to be near them. When she felt especially happy and content, she would even drool a little while soaking up the love. She adores toys and playtime and truly enjoys interacting with her humans. She quickly became a lap kitty and enjoyed the love from her humans all day.

But Duchess also has boundaries, and it’s important that her future family respects them. She does not like having her tail or rear end touched and may give a warning swipe if someone pushes that limit.

Being back at the shelter has been especially hard on her this time. The noise, the smells, and especially the presence of other cats make her nervous and overwhelmed. Here, she is often fearful and can become overstimulated quickly. The Duchess you see in the shelter is not the Duchess who once happily followed her people around the house.

Underneath all that stress is still the same loving cat who wants to bond deeply with her person.

Duchess is looking for a calm, patient home where she can be the one and only pet. She needs someone willing to move at her pace, respect her boundaries, and keep life quiet and predictable while she learns to trust again.

If you can give Duchess the understanding and stability she’s been missing, you’ll discover a loyal, playful, talkative companion who has so much love left to give. She just needs someone to believe in her one more time. Fill out an application for her here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FMAS/Cat
