Drax & Socks's Story
Adoptions in the Dallas Metro area only.

Are you the type who respects feline boundaries, appreciates emotional nuance, and doesn’t need affection to feel connected? Meet Drax and Socks — a bonded pair of quirky introverts looking for a unicorn adopter who gets that love doesn’t always mean cuddles.

? Drax
Drax is a handsome tabby who plays it cool most of the time, but don’t be fooled — he’s got a soft side. He’s been with his foster since kittenhood, and over the years he’s learned that pets can actually be pretty great... on his terms. His favorite time for affection is in the morning or right before bed, when he’ll hop up, meow softly, and stand beside you waiting for love. You can pet him, rub his cheeks, even gently push him to lay down and get full-body scritches — as long as he’s the one who initiated it.

Outside of those windows? He’s a ghost. Approach him uninvited and he’ll bolt. Try to pick him up and it’s full-on panic mode (don’t do it). If he’s cozy in his cat bed and you reach in, he might hiss — but it’s a bluff. If he doesn’t run off, he’ll usually accept the affection, albeit grudgingly.

Drax is not aggressive, just incredibly specific about when and how he wants attention. But when he does ask for it, it’s one of the most rewarding, melt-your-heart moments in the world.

? Socks
Socks is a classic tuxedo girl and a total cat’s cat. She lives for feline companionship — the more the merrier. She will rush to greet any new cat with headbutts and chirps. Humans, though? Meh. She’ll meow at you, sniff your fingers, even follow you around, but don’t expect pets. If you reach for her, she’s gone. She’s never hissed, scratched, or bitten — just pure avoidance mode. When cornered for vet trips, she shuts down and melts into a scared loaf. Sweet as can be, just emotionally unavailable in a way only seasoned cat lovers will appreciate.

? Together
Their bond is undeniable. When Drax comes for pets, Socks runs over to supervise, meowing and head-butting him like a proud little sister. They play string-on-a-stick like total goofballs, nap side by side in their favorite beds, and — in possibly the cutest move ever — they’ll sometimes twist their tails together while walking in sync across the bed. They're weird, they're sweet, and they are absolutely a package deal.

? Ideal Home
- Patient, cat-savvy humans
- No young kids
- A chill home with other friendly cats is fine (Socks will thank you)
- Adopters who understand that “hands-off” doesn’t mean “heart-off”

If Drax & Socks’ pictures and stories have captivated you, please submit a no-obligation adoption inquiry to www.arcrescuetx.com/adopt
