Dove's Story

Dove is everything a cat should be - beautiful, affectionate, playful and curious. She will sit in your lap for hours and is a great protector during scary movies. She loves to play with toys and have catnip on her scratching post. She also spends a lot of time grooming her long, silky fur. She has very good litter box habits. <br/><br/>Dove prefers to eat Sheba Perfect Portions or similar - she doesn't like canned food except Fancy Feast. She has a very cute grumbly meow and will let you know her opinions. We think she is safe for respectful older children who can recognize her boundaries - she has done a little gentle nipping. <br/><br/>Dove is a special needs cat as she had mammary tumours removed this year. Her adopters should keep in mind that these tumours may resurface in the future.

How To Adopt An Animal From Burlington Humane Cats and Kittens If you are interested in adopting, we are open for walk-in adoptions for our cats from Tuesday through Saturday (10 am – 5 pm). When you come into the shelter, if you have not already done so, you will fill out an adoption application and then you will talk with our Adoption Counsellors. After your interview with the Adoption Counsellors, if they feel you are able to move forward in the process, they will take you in to meet our animals. We ask that all members of the family come together, and if you have a pet carrier (for a cat), please bring that along as well. Although we no longer require it, you may want to wear a mask (we have masks here for your convenience). Cats and Kittens can be adopted that same day. If you do not meet your match on your first visit, we will keep your completed application on file for about four months. Dogs and Puppies The adoption process for Dogs requires about 2-3 interviews with the Adoption Counsellors before bringing your new family member home. We encourage that the potential adopter and their family schedule multiple visits to interact with the Dog. An evaluation of all prospective adopters is completed with the objective of finding the best fit for the Dog in question. We look forward to meeting you at the shelter soon!!
