DOUG JUDY's Story
Doug Judy’s long-overdue bio is being written nearly a year after his arrival, and for good reason. Although he was briefly on the adoption circuit, medical circumstances completely beyond his control led me to pull him back so we could closely monitor his response to treatment. Several months into his stay with us, Doug became acutely ill secondary to a chronic immune-mediated disease process—one that requires swift, attentive care whenever it flares.

🚨 Calling all Brooklyn 99 fans! 🚨

You can’t have Jake Purralta without his nemesis-turned-bro-mantic soulmate, Doug Judy—and when this streetwise, rough-and-tumble guy strutted into Crash’s Landing in mid-March of 2024, I knew instantly what his name had to be.
Born in early 2021, this now 4-year-old charmer is equal parts charisma, swagger, and lovable troublemaker. He’s got that undeniable “street thug with a heart of gold” vibe—and let’s be honest, those chubby cheeks alone could melt just about anyone. Doug is also FIV+.

Doug needed time to decompress, settle in, and leave his life on the lam behind him, which is why it’s taken months to truly get to know him. What we’ve learned? Doug Judy is playful, energetic, and happiest when he has a feline partner-in-crime by his side.

Doug would do well in a home with one other playful cat, preferably his best buddy Nimba the Spectacular He gets the afternoon zoomies and lives to chase Nimba around the shelter—cue two high-speed black blurs tearing past at full throttle. While Doug may not be the type to strut his stuff at a Meet & Greet just yet, with the right person—someone patient and willing to earn his trust—we know he will surprise everyone.

And here’s the best part: when Doug is at Feline Wellness Center visiting Dr. Jen, he’s an absolute gentleman. Calm, relaxed, and thoroughly enjoying one-on-one attention, he shows us exactly who he can be in a quiet, secure environment.
Because of his medical condition, Doug’s immune-mediated disease may flare from time to time, and prompt medical attention is critical to ensure he recovers quickly and safely. For this reason, Doug Judy is part of our Bonded Buddies Program—meaning Doug and Nimba must be adopted together, two cats for the adoption fee of one.

To further ease the burden for adopters, Doug’s medical care will be covered for life by Dr. Jen and Feline Wellness Center, with support from Crash’s Landing. This includes routine and non-routine visits, vaccinations, and any medical care he may need. Doug will also need regular nail trims at the clinic—he is not a fan, and this is best handled by professionals who know him well.

Doug Judy and his spectacular pal deserve a home of their own – a place where they can run, wrestle, nap, and snuggle after exhausting themselves (and delighting everyone around them with their antics). For adopters willing to embrace both the joy and responsibility that come with Doug’s medical needs, the reward is immeasurable.

For more detailed information about Doug Judy’s condition, Dr. Jen is always happy to speak directly with potential adopters and answer any questions.
