Double Stuf's Story

Meet Double Stuf: Twice the Filling, Twice the Love! If you love the classic black and white charm of a tuxedo cat, then Double Stuf is ready to steal your heart. This handsome gentleman is estimated to be about six years old, which many cat lovers will tell you is the perfect age.

Cats his age come with some wonderful perks:
Their personalities are already well developed
They tend to be calmer and less mischievous than kittens
And they often appreciate the comforts of home more than anyone

Double Stuf was rescued by a local grassroots organization who asked ARF to give him a safe place to land while he waits for his forever home and we were more than happy to oblige. He arrived at the end of February after living outdoors where a kind Good Samaritan had been feeding him. That person noticed something wasn't quite right because Double Stuf had a severe head tilt.

Once he was safely secured and examined, the cause was discovered. This poor guy had an infection in both eyes and a double ear infection. The pain from those ear infections caused the head tilt. Thankfully he's now feeling much better.

Double Stuf has tested FIV positive, but please don't let that scare you away.
FIV cannot be spread to people or dogs
It is most commonly transmitted through deep bite wounds between outdoor cats competing for scarce resources like food
Many FIV+ cats live long, happy, healthy lives

Our adoption consultant will be happy to discuss FIV with his adopter and answer any questions so everyone feels confident and prepared for a wonderful life together.

Despite his rough past, Double Stuf has a soft spot for companionship, especially with female cats. You might say he's a bit of a ladies' man! He spent time in a loving foster home where he interacted with other cats and that's where it was observed that he does well with feline-friendly cats, particularly females. Our adoption consultant can guide you through how to introduce him to a resident cat at home.

When Double Stuf arrived, we also noticed an old wound on his nose and a broken tooth, both reminders of the time he spent fending for himself outside. His face carries the look of an old soul. It's the kind that makes you feel like he has chapters and chapters of stories to tell, if only he could put them into words.

Now that his days of surviving outside are behind him, Double Stuf is ready for a different life. He's ready for one filled with soft beds, gentle care and someone who will truly pamper him the way he deserves. If you're looking for a loyal companion with character, charm and a heart full of gratitude, Double Stuf might just be your perfect match.

The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need!
