Dornhoefer's Story

Say hello to Dornhoefer! This boy, who will be 6 months old on November 10th, came to us alongside his sister, Recchi, last month. We don't adopt out black cats in October, so we waited until now to post them publicly.

The Philadelphia Flyers started off their season 0-2, and then these two showed up an hour before our home opener. They proved to be good luck charms, as we won the game, so they were named after 2 of my all-time favorite Flyers.

Dorny and his sister are both quiet, shy, curious kittens. They are bigger cats, but they are big babies. They are still warming up to us. They let us pet, cuddle, and pick them up. They don't love it, but they won't hiss or fight it either. They just accept it, and then when you put them back down, they go retreat into their cat tree.

Dorny and Rex look almost identical. The glaring difference is that Dorny has one bright white whisker among all of his black ones, and that's how we tell them apart! (Since Gary Dornhoefer is known now more for his white hair and beard, this cat with the white whisker got the "Dornhoefer" name!)

Dorny is fixed, vaccinated, and FIV-FelV negative. he loves other cats, and can be very playful (when he thinks you aren't watching). He didn't love our dog's barking, but I wouldn't necessarily say that he is afraid of dogs. Our dog can just be annoying sometimes! These two came from a hoarding situation, and have been bounced around for a while before landing with us, but we think once he finds his forever home, and realizes he won't be tranferred again in a couple of weeks, then he will start to let his guard down, and his true personality will shine.

He is available now!
