Domino's Story

Meet Domino – the Comeback Cat!

Domino is a handsome 3-year-old tuxedo who's been through more than most cats ever will, but he's finally ready for his happy ending! This resilient boy was left behind in Hartford when his owners were evicted and was found eating old food from the garbage with no food or water left in the apartment. Once rescued, Domino's health took a turn for the worse—likely from how he'd been living—and he spent a week in the emergency vet. With excellent care and a strong will to live, he made a full recovery. Just as we were preparing to put him up for adoption, Domino was diagnosed with FIP, a disease that was once considered fatal. After 168 days of treatment and observation, Domino is now healthy, happy, and officially FIP-free! He doesn't require any ongoing treatment at this time. We are happy to answer any questions an adopter might have about FIP and his recovery.

Domino is a confident, affectionate cat who loves attention but can get a little overstimulated—he'll let you know with a playful “love bite.” Because of this, he would do best with a cat-savvy owner and a home without small children. He's selective about his feline friends—some cats he gets along with, others not so much—so he may prefer to be your one and only. If there's another cat in the home, slow introductions will be key. When he's not snuggling or playing, Domino enjoys squeezing himself into boxes, bins, and baskets—if it fits, he sits! He's also known for one funny little quirk: he loves masking tape, so his new owner will need to keep tape (and other tempting items) out of reach. After nearly a year of recovery and care, Domino is more than ready to find his forever home. He's looking for someone who will appreciate his big personality, his survivor's spirit, and his silly side. Could Domino be the missing piece to your family?

We received a grant from PetFinder Foundation to help find his forever home! His adoption fee has been reduced by $100 (adoption fee will be $150).

Cats are negative for FelV/FIV, receive age-appropriate vaccines and deworming, are spayed/neutered and are microchipped (free lifetime registration with adoption).

All of our pets go home with a "Go Home Goody Bag" that includes a starter supply of food, treats, toys, and a voucher for a free month of pet insurance from Trupanion.

Location: Bolton, CT
Adoption Fee: $250

Paws 4 Life Animal Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
ADOPTION PROCESS Our goal is to match the right pet with the right adopter. This means we approach each adoption opportunity in a unique way. One of our adoption specialists will meet (in person, or by phone) with you to learn about your "ideal pet." We take into consideration lifestyle, family dynamic, desired personality traits and an adopter's overall objective in bringing a new pet into their home and make recommendations on which of our pets may be a good fit. ADOPTION SUPPORT We understand that bringing a new pet into your home can be a little stressful. It can take time for a new animal to settle in, and you may have questions about behavior or routine. When we adopt out a pet to a new home, we are available to answer any questions that come up - and to support the new adopter with any special needs they may have related to in-home adjustment. Because our pets are fostered in private homes, we can let you know what's normal, what's not and how to address any initial challenges you may have. FEES Adoption fees vary by animal, and take into consideration age, breed and other characteristics. We strive to keep adoption fees reasonable and many of our animals receive veterinary care at costs that far exceed the adoption fee. Adoption fees are listed on each animal's description. WHAT'S INCLUDED All of our adoptable animals receive age-appropriate vaccines, are spayed/neutered (at age-appropriate time), have a microchip and are tested for species-specific diseases. They also go home with a certificate for one month of FREE pet insurance through Trupanion.
