Doe and Boo's Story

Please read through the entire posting and requirements before applying via our questionnaire at https://alleycatproject.org/adopt
Please do not submit an inquiry via Petfinder.

What is luckier than one black kitty? Two black kitties!

Meet Doe and Boo, two adorable, energetic young cats estimated to be about nine months old. Both have lovely short, sleek (seriously, SO shiny!), soft black fur with green/yellow eyes.

These two sweeties were rescued from a shelter in south Seattle that was going to euthanize them due to lack of space and because the kittens were “feral”. This really means they just were very scared and at about four months old, and were not used to living with humans. This is your chance to rescue these two lovely cats!

These ladies have come a long way, they now roam the house and have become great TV buddies at night (they prefer romcom but are ok with action). They will hang out with you on the couch, but they also love “hunting” and are especially keen on chasing “da bird” on a stick.

While they have really opened up and become more comfortable with people in the home, they are still very shy around strangers and will hide when new people are in the house. They are looking for a home that understands their socialization is a work in progress and that these young ladies will need some patience in getting used to a new environment and people. But it is so worth it. These ladies are as sweet as can be, a ton of fun to play with, and are very low maintenance.

Doe is the larger of the two, and the more affectionate one. She will approach you for pets and scratches and is quick to purr. She “leans” in when you offer your hand. She occasionally works up the courage to sit in a lap but is still getting used to it. She has large, curious eyes, and a curious, engaging stare.

Boo is more reserved, and you can see it in her little quizzical-looking face. She loves hanging out with you on the couch and typically chooses a spot nearby to snooze. If you have a snack, she really would like to share it with you and occasionally will tap you on the shoulder, so you know she is ready to share. Honestly, she does not love being pet and will sometimes shrink away or gently bat your hand away. I really think this is just a lack of confidence, as when she is in her “cave” and sleepy, she not only accepts pets but will purr. I think with time (and Doe as a great role model) she’ll be more receptive as she obviously enjoys human company.

They are still shy. Consistent gentle, human interaction is a must. They need a patient person who understands the challenges of kittens where a bit late to indoor life. They will need to work their way up to being comfortable enough to be picked up/handled. Right now, petting only is allowed.

These two like to hang out with each other. They love play time – “da bird” is a favorite, and this is where Boo’s little personality really shines. She is fast and you can tell that of the two, she likely has the best hunting skills. The two kittens love to chase each other and wrestle. They are both good eaters and they like both canned and dry food. They have excellent litter box habits. Churus are a BIG motivator to help them get more comfortable with you and are highly recommended.

What Doe and Boo are looking for in a home:

- They want to stay together forever and would love to be adopted as a pair.
- They’ll need extra time and TLC to build trust.
- They have lots of curious kitten energy and will benefit from plenty of active play time with stick toys and each other.
- They feel at ease in a quiet and calm environment where they can eventually safely explore.
- They need to live indoors only.
- They have no known history of being with other cats.
- They have no known history with dogs.
- They have no known history with children, but given their shyness, they may be best suited to a home with older or patient children.

All Alley Cat Projects cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption.

Thank you for your interest in Doe and Boo! If your household fits the above criteria, you can apply to adopt them by filling out this questionnaire: https://alleycatproject.org/adopt

Only applicants who complete the questionnaire will be considered. Please do not send an inquiry through Petfinder, as it will not replace the questionnaire. Many of our cats receive numerous applications, and we thank you for your patience while we review applications and find the best match.

Please do not follow up on your application by phone or email as this will not expedite a response.
