Dodu's Story

DODU

10 Years Old Neutered Male Available for Adoption

Dodu is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccines.

Every rescue seems to have that one cat who quietly steals your heart.

For us, that's Dodu.

Dodu is what we lovingly call a grumpy grandpa. He's not the type to throw himself into your arms on day one or demand to be the center of attention. Instead, he likes to take his time, size you up, and decide whether you're worthy of his friendship.

Once you've earned his trust, you'll discover a cat with the sweetest heart.

Dodu enjoys a quiet life. A comfy bed, a sunny window, a predictable routine, and people who respect his space are really all he's asking for. He's independent without being aloof and enjoys being near his people, even if he's not necessarily sitting on top of them.

Dodu gets along fine with other cats but would honestly prefer they mind their own business or prefers to live solo. He also doesn't seem bothered by calm, low-energy dogs who respect his personal space.

Like all Big House cats, Dodu has been on quite the weight-loss journey. He's already made incredible progress and is feeling better for it, but he still has a little bit of chonk left to lose. His adopter will need to continue his portion-controlled diet and help him stay active so he can keep moving toward a healthier weight.

This spring, Dodu underwent dental surgery to remove several unhealthy teeth and get his mouth back into tip-top shape. He recovered beautifully and is feeling much more comfortable now that those troublesome teeth are gone.

Like many senior cats, Dodu comes with a little maintenance. Recent bloodwork has confirmed early Stage 2 kidney disease. The good news is that his values have remained stable, he's feeling great, and he currently shows no symptoms related to his kidneys. His veterinarian recommends a kidney-friendly diet and routine monitoring to help keep him feeling his best for years to come.

To help make his transition easier, Dodu will go home with four months of his prescription kidney diet.

Now for the most important thing: Dodu has very expensive taste in furniture. While many cats enjoy fancy beds and cat trees, Dodu's favourite place to sleep is the bottom of a cardboard pop box. We have no explanation for this. We have stopped asking questions.

Because we know how important this is to him, we'll even send a few of his beloved cardboard pop boxes home with him.

We know that senior cats and medical cats are often overlooked, but we hope someone sees what we see in Dodu: a wonderful cat who deserves a family of his own.

If you're looking for a quiet companion, a professional napper, a cardboard-box enthusiast, and a lovable little grump to share your home with, Dodu may just be your perfect match. His adoption fee is waived under our compassionate adoption program.

P.S. The cardboard pop boxes are non-negotiable.
