Dixie 's Story
Pet Name: Dixie
Age: Approximately 3–4 years
Weight: About 5 pounds
Breed: Medium Dilute Tortie
Spay/Vaccination Status: Spayed at MCHS; vaccination history unknown
Housebroken: Does not currently use a litter box

Dixie is a beautiful, loving, and very affectionate cat who enjoys being close to her people. She does well with children of all ages and can coexist with other cats and dogs after a slow, patient introduction period.

She does have a flea allergy and will need flea prevention year round. She may want to be an indoor/outdoor kitty.

At the Humane Society of Midland County, all animals adopted will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations prior to adoption. Dogs over 6 months of age will be heartworm tested, and any dog with a positive test will receive treatment at no additional cost to the owner. This is one reason we have fees on the dogs to help cover the extra medical some of the other residents need. They all share the burden and the rewards.
No Appointment Needed to Meet Adoptable Animals!
We have open adoption hours, and walk-ins are always welcome! While filling out an application lets us know you're interested in adopting, it does not hold an animal, and applications are not required to meet the available animals. We typically require a meet-and-greet between any resident dogs and the dog you’re interested in adopting, to ensure everyone gets along safely and comfortably.
Want to Know if I’m Still Available?
Call the shelter at (989)-835-1877 to confirm my availability.
