Diesel's Story

Almost a year ago, we trapped five spicy little kittens living in a mobile home park. They had been taking shelter inside a car engine to survive, which is how they earned their "Car Engine Litter" names.

Gauge and Diesel were among the most frightened of the bunch. These girls came to us afraid, shy and completely unsure if humans could be trusted. While their siblings slowly came around and found loving homes, Gauge and Diesel needed a little extra time. And wow... has that time paid off. Their foster family has poured months of patience, consistency, and love into helping them realize that people aren't so scary after all.

Today, they eagerly greet their foster mom at breakfast and dinner, waiting for pets and scratches. Gauge likes to hop onto the bed for cuddles, and Diesel quickly follows. Diesel purrs nonstop during snuggles, and Gauge has started purring too. They enjoy brushing, seek out affection on their own terms, and spend their days lounging nearby while their foster mom works or watches TV. When their foster mom leaves for work, the kitty cam captures some of the sweetest moments. They groom each other, nap curled up together, and spend nearly two hours everyday chasing, wrestling, and playing.

We can't say for certain if they're bonded, but they clearly share a special connection and would love to see them adopted together if possible. However, we'd also consider separating them for the right home with a confident, friendly resident cat to help them continue building confidence and feeling secure. They also absolutely adore their canine foster sibling. Seriously, watching Gauge love on the dog might be one of the cutest things you'll ever see.

We are incredibly proud of how far they've come. Now all they need is a forever home willing to meet them where they are and continue their journey. If you have a calm home, a kind heart, and maybe even a friendly dog, Gauge and Diesel just might be your perfect match.

Apply to adopt at https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUVR/cat

All of our adoptable rescues have a clean bill of health (unless otherwise stated), are spayed/neutered, vaccinated (age-appropriately), tested (FeLV/FIV for cats over 8 months of age, HW for dogs over 6 months of age), current on flea and heartworm prevention and microchipped. This is all included in their adoption fee that goes in as a donation to help us cover their medical costs and continue to help other animals in need. Any questions, concerns and suggestions, please feel free to contact us at ALDR@animalluvrs.org.
