Dexter's Story

Hi there! I’m Dexter, a handsome dark-gray tabby boy who first came into rescue when I was just a tiny baby. Now I’m about seven months old and really coming into my own — confident, curious, and a little bit independent in all the best ways.

Most days you’ll find me perched in a sunny window watching the world go by, batting around toys, or taking a good nap (or three). I’m pretty good at entertaining myself, but I do love my people. Usually once or twice a day, I decide it’s cuddle time — that’s when I crawl up next to my humans, snuggle in, and enjoy some TV, warmth, and love. I’m not clingy, but I definitely appreciate affection on my terms.

I get along well with other cats and even small dogs! I like a little time to settle in — usually a week or two — but as long as everyone respects my boundaries, I’m happy to share my space and become buddies.

I’m neutered, up-to-date on all my shots, and of course litter-box trained. I’m just looking for a home that appreciates a sweet, easygoing guy with a mellow vibe and a soft spot for the people he trusts.

If you’re looking for a laid-back companion who brings joy, comfort, and just the right amount of affection, I’d love to meet you.
– Dexter

Jackson County Animal Protection Society's Adoption Policy
We would love for you to have the option to come hang out and meet your potential furry friend prior to making your decision to adopt. Since we don't have an official shelter building & currently rely on foster homes for all of the animals in our care; adoptable cats often visit at Kind Closet in Jackson, MN. This happens most Saturday's & on special event days. We recommend finding us on Facebook to stay updated. Filing an application is step one of the adoption processes. This tells us about you, your living situation, type of pet you're looking for and gives us personal & professional references. Adoption applications are available in on our Facebook page, via email or you can file one during your visit at Kind Closet. Once we review your references & determine if you & your family is a good fit for adoption, an adoption agreement must be signed & filed before taking your new baby home. If you live over an hour away, we recommend filing an application in advance to ensure enough time is given for us to verify references prior to adoption pickup.
