Devon's Story

Please read Devon's bio, requirements for adoption and if you think he would be a good fit then please go to avacats.org and fill out an online application form. An adoption co ordinator will be in touch. <br/>December 24th - Devon came in to our rescue along with 3 other cats back beginning of October. They had been living in a garage with some people who had been evicted from the house and they had moved on but left the cats to fend for themselves. The cats were starving, full of fleas and desperate for help. Devon went to our vet where he was flea treated, dewormed, was neutered and received a dental - he had a few extractions, dental cleaning and went home on antibiotics. He also was treated for an eye infection with drops. It was decided that he should wait to receive his vaccines until the antibiotics were all done. We did have him viral tested and he was FIV and FeLeuk negative. After a few weeks in his foster home with good food, clean surroundings and his antibiotics finished he went back to our vet for a recheck and received his FVCRP and rabies vaccines and a second deworming. . The vet felt that poor nutrition, living conditions etc contributed to him needing a dental. He was scrounging for any scraps he could find. He has been in his foster home for almost 2 months and is looking good. He has filled out, his fur is nice and white, he is eating up a storm., is playing with toys and enjoying his pets. It is now time for him to find his forever home. He loves his foster mom's other cats so would do well with another cat friendly feline to show him the ropes with proper introduction. His new home will need to give him time to feel comfortable and adjust to his new surroundings. It is recommended to start him out in a safe room with food, litter and toys til he feels safe. His adoption fee is $250. AVA has an indoor and no declaw policy. He is in a foster home in Ancaster.
