Deveraux the Distinguished Gentleman's Story

Meet Deveraux!

Deveraux is an all-around really great cat with perfect Southern gentleman manners and a heart of gold. He’s very smart, very sweet, and while he may be a little timid in the beginning, he just needs a little time to fully come out of his shell.

Once comfortable, Deveraux is affectionate, social, and loves attention. He enjoys being brushed, will happily work for a churu, and even sits on command—especially if treats are involved. A polite boy with excellent snack motivation.

Deveraux was raised in a home with other cats and does wonderfully with them. He has also grown up alongside three large dogs and handles canine roommates like a pro. He absolutely adores his sister Daphne — he protects her, plays with her, and occasionally beats her up like only a true sibling can.

In his free time, Deveraux enjoys feather wand toys, laser lights, scratching posts, and soaking up the sunshine on the catio. He would do best with respectful children who understand that he’ll need a few weeks to settle in and feel completely safe.

If you have room for twice the love, consider adding Daphne to the mix — they are the perfect dynamic duo.

If you’re looking for a smart, affectionate, well-mannered companion (or two!) who just needs patience and love to truly shine, Deveraux is ready to meet his forever family.

If interested in meeting Deveraux, please submit an application here: https://fjcasp.wufoo.com/forms/adoption-application

Friends of Jackson County Animal Shelter Pets's Adoption Policy
At FJCASP, we dedicate a great deal of love, time, and resources to caring for our animals, and our top priority is to see them go to permanent, loving homes with people who have the knowledge and means to provide proper care. Adoption Fee: $80–$150 Vet References Required We require that all potential adopters provide veterinary references. This allows us to confirm that any current or past pets have been kept up to date on vaccinations, preventatives, and are spayed/neutered. Most veterinary offices are familiar with this request. Our goal is to ensure that our animals are placed in homes where they will remain safe, healthy, and properly cared for. Long-Term Commitment Adopting a pet is a serious, long-term commitment. We want all potential adopters to understand their responsibilities and be prepared to care for an animal for its lifetime. Home Requirements To provide a safe environment, we require that adopters provide: - Proper shelter for the animal - Understanding of how to introduce a new pet to children and existing animals -Commitment to keeping the animal as an indoor pet Adoption Approval All adoptions must be finalized and approved by the FJCASP Board. This ensures oversight by experienced individuals who can confirm that all parties understand their responsibilities and that the animal’s welfare is prioritized. Adopter Responsibilities It is part of our adoption agreement that all medical treatments, veterinary costs, preventatives, food, and shelter are the sole responsibility of the adopter. Our goal is to place each animal in a loving, safe, and permanent home, and these guidelines help us ensure that every adoption is successful for both the pet and the adopter.
