Delilah's Story

Delilah, born approximately 6/13/2017, is a special sweetheart. Her journey hasn’t been easy. As just a wee little kitten, she was found with head trauma that left her unable to blink her right eye normally. Instead, she relies on her third eyelid to keep her eye healthy. She also has permanent damage to the upper left side of her skull, where she has bone indentation, an abnormal ear and bears several scars across her head. The exact cause of her injuries is still unknown, but what is known is that Delilah is a survivor.

Adopted as a kitten, she was recently returned, seven years later—alongside three of her feline housemates. Her former owner described her as a "ghost cat," only seeing her about once a year. Unfortunately that’s only because Delilah was never properly socialized or given the love and attention she needed to thrive. When she arrived back at the clinic, she was terrified. The noise, the dogs, the unfamiliar people—it was all too much. Her stress triggered a herpes flare-up, which led to an infected eye ulcer in her already compromised eye. But with weeks of dedicated care and treatment, the ulcer healed, leaving only a small scar—just one more mark in a life full of quiet endurance.

For months now, Delilah and her patient, gentle foster mom sat together to build a relationship. At first, she would hide, hiss or swat if she reached out. But slowly, she began to trust- after lots of squeezy treats, conversations, gentle pets and chin scratches she is a different cat. Delilah loves cat TV, soft beds and blankets which she prefers to line a cozy hut or cave style fort. She also adores her plushy toys and takes care of them as if they were her own kittens. She will be overshadowed in a home with other cats but after you build a friendship with her, she will likely benefit from a calm, confident, nurturing, kitty mate. Once Delilah is comfortable with you and her environment, she is such a an angel. She eagerly dives into pets with her sweet head bumps, makes the softest biscuits, and has a healing purr.

Delilah is talkative, affectionate, playful, and so very loving—with those who earn her trust. She’s looking for a calm, quiet home, ideally with friendly cats (and possibly a gentle dog), and a patient human who will meet her on her terms. She doesn’t need much—just someone willing to offer her the forever she’s never truly had.

Adopting from Sheets Pet Clinic cat adoptions is simple!
