Deema's Story
Meet Deema, a beautiful two-year-old cat with a confident personality, plenty of opinions, and a very clear idea of how she likes to be loved.

Deema arrived at ECPR with a group of nine other cats who traveled all the way from a foster home in Saudi Arabia. She isn't a shy or easily startled cat. Instead, she's confident and curious, but particular about her space and happiest when she gets to decide when and how she interacts.

Deema enjoys attention and will happily ask for pets, but she prefers to keep things on her terms. She has a little "time limit" for affection, often enjoying a few pets before taking a short break and coming back when she's ready for more. Her future family will need to appreciate her communication style and understand that a hiss or a scratch means she's asking for some space.

She would do best with a patient, understanding adopter who is comfortable reading cat body language and respecting boundaries. Older, respectful children 12+ may be a good fit. Deema has lived successfully with other cats, although any future introductions should be slow and thoughtful. Her compatibility with dogs is unknown, so a home without dogs may be best.

When she's not supervising her humans, Deema enjoys her toys, scratching posts, and exploring her surroundings. She's also very food motivated and has a healthy appetite, although she'll be working on maintaining a healthier weight.

Deema does have a history of a hip fracture, but it does not currently appear to cause her any discomfort or limit her daily activities. She will also need a dental cleaning in the near future to address dental tartar and possible periodontal disease.

Deema may have a little spice, but that's part of what makes her so wonderfully herself. She's looking for someone who won't expect her to be a traditional lap cat, but will instead appreciate the relationship that comes from earning her trust, respecting her boundaries, and letting her choose when it's time for affection.

For the right person, Deema will be a funny, confident, and rewarding companion who knows exactly what she wants and isn't afraid to tell you.

Deema is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped.
