Dave's Story

**NOTE: All AVA kittens under 12 months of age MUST be adopted in pairs or to a home with another young cat. AVA does not accept applications for single kittens**

***Dave must have a young cat playmate in his new home. He can be paired with Ruth or Uno, both are a great match for Dave’s more reserved and timid nature.

Dave is a handsome tabby with soft, luxuriant fur, a floof of a tail, and lush ear tufts to break your heart. When he lounges in repose, you can’t help but awww in admiration, he is that gorgeous!

Dave is the largest of the litter because he loves mealtimes and will lead the charge when food is being served. He used to guard his dish with a quiet growl, but was never aggressive and can be easily moved aside to give his siblings room. He has come a long way in learning to share and hasn't had an issue with this lately, once he realizes that there’s plenty of food to go around. He is happy to be a team player and enjoys the camaraderie of his littermates.

Compared to his siblings, Dave has a very shy but loving personality. He needs safe cubbies at first to hide in and watch the action, and once he is comfortable with the space and familiar with the faces, he comes slowly out of his secure place to shyly engage. It may be a gradual ramp-up to affection, but given time and patience, he will get there eventually. His pace may be slower, but his love is so much deeper and firmer when he marks you as his own.

In a kindle of rambunctious, big personalities, Dave comes across as more reserved and not as outgoing. However, he is happy and affectionate with his siblings, and loves to chase string toys or be a part of whatever game they are playing. Although he is not always cuddly, he will always be nearby within sight of his trusted people, and revel quietly in the comfort of belonging. Dave has decided that being petted is the greatest feeling in the world, and although he may initially jump when pet by someone new, once he sees you and feels comfortable, he stays longer and longer, thanking you with his gaze, purrs and flops.

Dave is a sweet, gentle and timid soul needing the reassurance of patient, loving people and his own sibling’s familiar scent. He would love to go home with either Ruth or Uno, a short-haired version of himself but no less sweet and much more confident. Together, they can light up your world.

Would you like to make Dave a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: https://www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.

Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.

Adoption fees are $275 for each kitten up to 12 months old. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.

All AVA kittens 12 months or younger must be adopted in pairs or go to a home with another young cat (3 years or younger). Kittens learn from each other how to behave, which helps them turn into well-adjusted adult cats. In general, paired cats have happier and healthier lives because they have a constant companion and playmate. Plus, it's twice the fun for you, and half the work!
