Dash (FeLV+)'s Story

Meet Dash!

Dash is a 5-year old kitty who survived for months outside after being dumped, cared for by a colony feeder. He tested positive for FeLV, a contagious virus in cats that weakens the immune system over time, but a recent PCR (more accurate test) shows he has regressive FeLV. This means that:

- His body fought off the virus and it's dormant
- He is much less contagious to other cats, especially if they are vaccinated (standard distemper vaccine)
- He is likely to live a happy, normal life

Dash was isolated while we waited for his second test, and he was so excited every time his foster mom came to visit him. He’s a cuddly, affectionate and playful little guy who loves petting and his wand toys. He’ll greet you at the door with his chubby cheeks, and he loves his food! All in all, he's a big silly boy.

Extreme stress can cause the FeLV virus to re-activate, so we recommend for Dash a calm, loving home full of interaction and treats. Dash should live by himself, with other regressive FeLV cats, or with healthy and vaccinated cats. We know that he can get all his love from his humans!

Dash is neutered, treated for fleas, dewormed, and microchipped. He is negative for FIV and positive for FeLV (regressive status)

Apply to adopt Dash: https://www.findyourcatpanion.org/our-adoptables/adopt-a-cat

Purrfect Catpanion's Adoption Policy
We are very happy to help you find your next catpanion, please fill out our adoption application below to get started. The next step in the process will be a home visit or a video call, during which we will be looking to assess if the environment is safe to receive a cat. Some things we are looking for: - Windows in every room are secured to prevent the cats escaping. - Is the home ready to receive the kitty: litter box, food & water bowl areas, cat food available, etc. - Are there other pets that could potentially cause harm to the kitty? If other pets are present, they must all be fully vetted (Spayed/Neutered and Vaccinations up-to-date) This is not a 1-step process, we want to make sure the adoption is a purrfect match for everyone involved. All adoptions will incur an adoption fee: $200-$250 Your fee covers all vetting: Vaccinations, Deworming, Flea treatments, Neuter/Spaying, microchipping, etc.
