Dash's Story

Meet Dash & Stryper
DOB: April 11, 2019 | Adopted at 6 months | Returned: November 17, 2025
Dash and Stryper are gentle giants with a heart-wrenching story. Originally adopted as six-month-old kittens, they spent most of their lives bonded closely to one person, Joe. After his passing, the boys became increasingly reclusive—hiding from everyone and almost untouchable. For the past 2½ years, they’ve been in limbo, quietly mourning and unsure of their place in their sheltered world.
These two super-sized cats weigh nearly 30 pounds combined, yet they are painfully shy and literally afraid of their own shadows. Despite their timidity, they are incredibly gentle and adore one another. Slowly, they are gaining confidence by cuddling next to some of our more outgoing cats, who are helping show them the ropes and reassure them.

Dash and Stryper carry a lot of grief, and it’s heartbreaking to watch them navigate an environment they didn’t ask for—but with patience, love, and consistency, they are making progress. They are now more comfortable in the Gallery, where the busier environment provides cubbies to hunker down in and the freedom to explore safely without feeling exposed.

These boys would thrive in a calm, quiet home with experienced adopters or foster families who understand shy cats and are willing to let them come out at their own pace. With time, patience, and reassurance, Dash and Stryper could once again enjoy the comfort and security of a loving home.

They are sweet, gentle, and deserving of a family who will love them just as they are—quiet, cautious, and slowly opening their hearts to trust again.

Dash and Stryper are part of our Bonded Buddies Program.
