DARNELL's Story

My name is Darnell and I am a gray & white domestic shorthair. I am a neutered male and I am 2 years and 6 months old. I am at the shelter because I was found as a stray on 03/13/2026. I am a good kitty who uses the litterbox! I am a high energy cat and I can live with an owner with no prior pet owning experience. I do not have a history of trying to escape the home, but the shelter staff always recommends owners be mindful that I do not accidentally sneak out on their way out the door. I can be good with women, men, and children. I can be good with other cats and I can be good with dogs.

Ames Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy

In order to better serve our adopters and ensure our animals remain healthy and happy, our animals are available for viewing by adoption appointment only. Adoption appointments are scheduled once an application has been submitted. Our adoption process is the following: Step One: Review the available animals through the links below Step Two: If you see someone you are interested in, submit an adoption application (be sure to list their name on the application.) Step Three: A staff member will review your application and reach out to you by email once it has been approved. If approved, they will schedule you an appointment to come in and meet the animal.
