Dakota's Story
Please read through the entire posting and requirements before applying via our questionnaire at https://alleycatproject.org/adopt
Please do not submit an inquiry via Petfinder.

Meet Dakota, a massive black-and-white bag of curiosity and chaos in cat shape! He is approximately 4 years old.

This strange, opinionated boy fears nothing, and wants to play with literally everything. He needs tons of stimulation (play, chances to watch out the windows, attention from humans, etc), and can be a bit of a turd when he's bored or isn't getting what he wants. He will knock things over. He will attack feet. He will make noises you didn't think could come from a cat, and he'll make them loudly and with great persistence!

Dakota has been learning manners since coming indoors, and it's a work in progress; he will sometimes hiss and/or bat at hands when he gets overstimulated or hungry.

Dakota is going to make a great companion for someone. He's constantly making his foster mom and her guests laugh, while also sometimes trying to steal their food or leaping onto their laps from high perches.

Dakota is bossy and fearless, and would do well in a home with a cat-friendly dog and/or confident cats. He co-exists just fine with his foster mom's energetic lab/pit mix. He interacts with the resident cats with some combination of curiosity, friendliness, indifference, and annoyance, but is always seeking out contact with everyone, even if it's just to hiss and make rude gestures. He could potentially do okay as an only cat, but would need a LOT of attention and interactive toys.

Ultimately, this dude just wants to turn your paper products into confetti, chill on your couch, and maybe ruin your life. And he'll do it all in style.

What Dakota’s looking for in a home:

- He has lots of energy and will benefit from plenty of active play time.
- He needs to live indoors only.
- He has a positive history with other cats and may like having a feline friend close to his age.
- He has a positive history with dogs.
- He has no known history with children.

All Alley Cat Project’s cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated prior to adoption.

Alley Cat Project adoption fees are:

- $200 per cat or kitten
- $350 for pair of cats or kittens
- $50 for senior cat (over 8 years old)
- Flexible reduced fees for a cat with a chronic medical condition that requires ongoing care
- Additional charitable donations are appreciated and support our overall rescue efforts

Thank you for your interest in adopting Dakota! If your household fits the above criteria, you can apply to adopt him by filling out this questionnaire: https://alleycatproject.org/adopt

Only applicants who complete the questionnaire will be considered. Please do not submit an inquiry through Petfinder, as it will not replace the questionnaire and we will not respond. Many of our cats receive numerous applications, and we thank you for your patience while we review applications and find the best match.

Please do not follow up on your application by phone or email as this will not expedite a response. As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we appreciate your understanding.
