Crystal's Story

Crystal is a big purrsonality in a little package! Weighing in at about 5 pounds, she runs her foster home! She keeps the other foster kitties and dogs in line, and has fallen in love with resident dog Tanner, seen in the video! She does well with other cats, even though she is a bit bossy, and the same with dogs, she is not afraid to speak her mind!

Crystal LOVES people! She is a sweetheart that loves affection and to curl up and nap on a lap, shoulder or head! Her favorite place at her foster home is an old box of cat food... we tried moving it to a cat tree and off the kitchen counter, but she won't touch it if it's not on the counter, lol

She likes to put her feet in her water bowl before drinking it, she also enjoys drinking any water she can find in the sink, but not fresh water from the tap! She often has wet feet due to this and leave paw prints so you know where she's been!

She came to ARC when she was found on the side of the highway. She didn't hear the cars or people, so they thought she was deaf. She was in bad shape, too skinny, not eating and could not hear. After a vet visit, it turned out she had a severe ear infection. She was treated for her ear infection and upper respiratory infection, and now she is doing very well! She can hear and is tipping the scales at just over 5 pounds! She has gone to the vet regularly for check ups on her ears and they are looking much better now. She will probably still need regular visits, at least twice a year.

She needs a special home that will be tolerant of her quirks and be willing to take her to the vet on a regular basis.

Crystal would be a wonderful candidate for our Seniors for Seniors program. This is a foster program where we send senior cats to the homes of senior citizens. Since the cats are in a foster program, there is no adoption fee and we provide supplies as needed, medication, and cover vet visits. The foster home provides daily care and lots of love! https://animalrefugecenter.org/seniors-for-seniors/

Interested in Crystal? You can fill out an adoption or foster form on our website. Animal Refuge Center Inc.'s Adoption Policy
The Animal Refuge Center screens all prospective pet adopters before adoption. Adopters must be prepared to provide references in order for an application to be approved. We ask for a veterinarian reference for current or past pets and we inquire as to your responsibility in keeping up with spay, neuter, vaccinations and other prevention. It will make the process faster and smoother if you ensure the information provided is accurate. Adopters must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid ID, have a phone and be responsive. Adopters must be able to financially and emotionally provide the appropriate daily care, as well as required vet visits for regular check ups and in the case of illness or injury. Adopters who rent or lease their homes must have approval from landlords or property managers to bring a new pet into the home. No gift adoptions. The primary guardian must be present for the adoption and must agree to the terms of the adoption by signing the adoption contract. Incomplete or inaccurate applications are subject to disapproval for that reason alone. Pets are family members and deserve the same respect, planning and care as any other member of a home. Please be sure you and your family are ready to commit to a pet for their entire life (up to 20+ years), including difficult times, moving, a break up, etc. We understand that life happens, but it is important to know that animals surrendered to us and other rescues/shelters are scared and confused, and they can become very depressed and sick. When you adopt you are responsible for their health and wellbeing, do right by them and they will do right by you!
