Crombie (FIV+)'s Story

Our rescues mean a lot to the vet staff and DunRoamin' volunteers. We do everything we can to find the perfect homes for these pets, who are being given a second chance at a happy life. The application process requires pre-adoption applications, references, and interviews with you and those listed on your application in order to ensure a successful placement. If you are interested in learning more about the pet listed, please complete an application at https://form.jotform.com/60793520585259 and a representative will be in touch!

Crombie came to DunRoamin' on April 23, 2022 from Crombie Settlement, NB. He had been found in an abandoned house where he had been seeking shelter for quite some time. A kind lady had tried to catch him, but when she went back to the house he was gone. Approximately two weeks later, she was able to find and rescue him.

Crombie was born about April 23, 2012. Assessment by his new vet friend showed that he was very dirty, matted, emaciated, had fleas, ear mites, internal parasites and a luxating patella on his right leg. He had obviously been having a hard time trying to survive, but the worst and probably most painful thing was his mouth. All his teeth were rotten and required to be removed. He also had a very bad abscess on his tongue which had resulted in a hole through his tongue.

Crombie was immediately provided antibiotics, pain medication and a nice warm and comfortable bed. He was also given wet food which he devoured. Despite his physical condition, he was soon purring and kneading - saying thank you to his new vet for her help to make him more comfortable.

Crombie is currently doing well. He is gaining strength and feeling much better. As are all DunRoamin' strays, he will be neutered, fully vaccinated, tested for FIV and FeLV, and his parasites were one of the very first things treated - nobody needs those!

Update: Crombie has tested positive for FIV, and his mouth is healing well which he is very grateful for!

Crombie is a very sweet, playful boy. He loves other cats, and loves to cuddle with people. He will be ready for his furever home very soon.
