Crayola's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.
Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application. If you would like to try a Foster to Adopt trial, please fill out an Adoption Application.

If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application.

Meet Crayola!
This adorable calico kitten was rescued along with her sister Lola an adorable black/white kitten.Crayola is a bit bigger(taller) than lola but both have the same sweet personality and little meows. They were rescued by a dog rescuer who encountered them in the streets of tijuana back in early June at just a couple of months old. She had tried to receive help for them since their rescuer deals solely with dogs and finally contacted ARWOB when someone recommended she reached out. We had space at that time and where able to take the sisters in early July. They are now fully vetted and doing great! They are felv/fiv negative.Crayola and lola have very similar personalities. They are both very loving and playful. Crayola is easier to approach while lola still likes to play 'catch me if you can' while teasing you but she loves the attention and when you do have her she may try to sneak out of your arms but if you keep petting her she will melt and start purring. Crayola loves to be in your arms. Crayola would be a princess personality while Lola is the tomboy. They are great around the rest of the foster cats and within a couple of days of introducing them to their new foster friends they adjusted quickly and became friends. They are 'OK' around dogs but their first instinct when they see dogs coming their way is to go to high ground or under chairs, streets survival instincts. They have only been around dogs for a couple of weeks and we anticipate they will do just fine with them as time progresses, they certainly have no fear but still don't trust them completely. They should be good kitties for a family with children as they love to purr and seek attention from their foster BUT they will hide or run when new people come in to their foster home. We anticipate they won't show very well but you are welcome to see their videos to see how they are with people they know. They girls do warm up quickly to volunteers when they meet them it just takes a few minutes, don't expect fireworks when you meet up as most cats have that 'new people meeting' instincts. They do not need to be adopted together but we can say they always find each other in the house among other foster cats so they do prefer each other company over their friends. To meet and possibly adopt one or both of these sweethearts please submit an application online at ARWOB.org once the application is received we will contact you to schedule a call to finish processing your application in the hopes of moving fwd to scheduling a meet and greet at their foster home. Adoption can happen the same day of the meet and greet. You likely would meet these girls and other foster kittens around who can be 'mixed/match' to be adopted together but their foster can tell you about the kittens you choose to make sure they are good match. If you are planning on adopting only one kitten we prefer adopters who already have a cat at home to have a feline companion with them when their humans are away from home living their life. Animal Rescuers Without Borders,Inc.'s Adoption Policy
The A.R.W.O.B. group prides itself on carefully placing animals into responsible and loving homes. We care about the present and future lives of the many unwanted dogs and cats and strive to improve them so they can come to know stability, love and safety. For more information, please visit our website at www.arwob.org. Our adoption procedure is as follows: 1) Adoption Application filed by applicant (visit the applications page to fill one out!). We typically adopt dogs and cats to individuals or families located in San Diego County, Orange County and Los Angeles areas. However, we may consider potential adopters within California, Arizona, and Nevada (within a reasonable driving distance) under certain circumstances. We require that the application be approved ahead of time and a home check must be done via FaceTime Skype (we do not accept videos for this purpose). We would also require the potential adopter to come to San Diego to meet the animal in person and we recommend bringing any current pet(s) to see if they will get along. If the potential adopter opts out of the meet-n-greet with their existing animal(s) and if the new pet does not get along with their existing pets, we would require the adopter to drive back to San Diego to return the animal -- we cannot provide transportation. Our adoptions are time sensitive and our policy is that we do not place holds on any of our rescues. PLEASE NOTE: We have implemented a new policy for those who are currently serving in the military. IF YOU ARE IN THE MILITARY please fill out a short questionnaire in addition to the adoption application. 2) A play date between the applicant and rescue (dog or cat). An applicant MUST have an APPROVED online adoption application filed BEFORE scheduling a playdate at the animal's foster home. The playdate will ensure that the potential adopter and the dog/ cat they are interested in is the right match. If the dog/cat does not possess the qualities and behavioral traits the applicant is looking for, we can continue the adoption process by meeting another rescued dog or cat. You can also meet the animal you are interested in at scheduled adoption events. Approved applicants have priority to meet an animal over others. Please read the events page for more information about meeting an animal at an event and possibly taking them home afterward. 3) Home checks to ensure the safety of our rescues (If applicable). An ARWOB volunteer will contact you upon approval of your application (and the playdate appointment) to schedule a visit to your home. Here we will take a look at where the cat/dog will be living. Your home and yard must be safe and secure. 4) Adoption Contract and ID from applicant If everything checks out during the homecheck and we believe our rescued dog/ cat will live happily there, we will go ahead and sign the adoption contract to makes the adoption official. 5) Adoption fee Fees are different for both dogs and cats and are based on age and, sometimes, on the breed. Please visit the adoption fees page for a break down of all. 6) Denial of adoption applications We screen all of our adoption applications thoroughly in order to find the perfect home for our rescues. There may be times when we feel the adopter is not a good fit based on the answer to questions on their application. Please know that we vet each applicant with the animal's best interest in mind. In the event that your application is denied, you will receive an email letting you know of our decision. However, we will not be able to answer detailed questions regarding the denial.
