Cowboy's Story
Cowboy is a true Niagara Falls street survivor. This senior gentleman spent most, if not all, of his life fending for himself outdoors, with very little human contact. So when he was rescued, it's no surprise that he was scared, overwhelmed, and unsure of what to make of this whole "people" thing.

What has surprised us is just how well Cowboy has adjusted to shelter life. He doesn't hide, and he's perfectly comfortable going about his business, but he also isn't exactly standing in line for cuddles. Affection is something he's still learning to trust.

That said, Cowboy has chosen a few special volunteers worthy of his attention, and those lucky people have earned the privilege of petting him! We have a feeling that once he's in a quiet home with someone he trusts, his softer side will emerge even more. And if you really want to get on Cowboy's good side, there's one surefire way: food. Give him a handful of treats and there's a very good chance you can sneak in some pets while he's busy scarfing them down!

One thing Cowboy absolutely does love is other cats. He enjoys feline companionship and needs a home with another friendly kitty (or even two or three!) to keep him company. Having a confident feline friend may also help him continue to feel safe and settled.

We know Cowboy is a bit of a tough sell. He's a senior, he isn't immediately affectionate, and he needs a patient adopter who will allow him to build trust at his own pace. But we also know that he has spent enough of his life simply surviving. He deserves the chance to spend his remaining years warm, safe, comfortable, and loved.

We're hoping there's someone out there who can look past the fact that Cowboy isn't a traditional "cuddle cat" and see the special old soul underneath. He may never be the cat who runs to greet you, but imagine how special it will feel when Cowboy finally chooses you!
