Cooper's Story

Hi. My name is Cooper.

I’m a beautiful black cat with a soft white undercoat hiding underneath, and I didn’t always feel this tired inside. The shelter is loud and full of smells and other cats, and it’s been really hard for me. I don’t like sharing space with other cats, and being surrounded by them all the time makes me feel overwhelmed and on edge. I’m constantly overstimulated here, and sometimes when I’m scared or stressed, I react in ways I wish I didn’t — even scratching the people I care about most. I’m not a bad cat. I’m just struggling.

What I really want is a quiet home where I can finally breathe. A place where I can be your only pet, where there’s no competition, no chaos — just peace. When I’m not so stressed, I’m a high-energy boy who loves to run, play, and let my zoomies out in a real home instead of a kennel. I love toys, and I really love food (I have a sensitive tummy, so I eat a special non-prescription diet that keeps me feeling my best).

I know I might not be the easiest cat at first. I need someone who understands that my rough edges come from fear, not meanness. Someone patient, kind, and willing to see past my stress to the cat I want to be. In the right home, with space to play and quiet moments to rest, I truly believe I can feel safe again.

I’m tired of being scared.
I’m tired of being overwhelmed.
I just want a home where I can finally be Cooper, not the stressed version of myself the shelter brings out.

If you have a quiet home and room in your heart for a cat who’s had a hard time, I promise I’ll try my very best.
