Cookie's Story

Meet Cookie, a smart, sweet survivor ready for home. Cookie is a 4 year old female tortoiseshell beauty with a one of a kind coat that looks as if it was painted by a brush during an autumn sunset. No two torties are alike and Cookie wears her stunning colors with quiet confidence and grace.

Found as a stray lingering around a city parking lot, Cookie showed just how smart and trusting she is by allowing herself to be picked up and brought indoors. It quickly became clear she had recently given birth and an immediate search led to an incredible discovery. Two tiny kittens were discovered tucked safely eight feet down in a window well. Cookie and her daughters, Sugarplum and Cocoa, were brought to the shelter so she could raise them in safety.

Cookie proved to be a devoted, attentive mother, caring for her babies with patience and love. Now that her kittens are grown and independent, Cookie is finally ready for a life of her own and one far away from busy streets and dodging cars.

She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is also well past the wild kitten phase. Cookie is the kind of cat who will show her appreciation in gentle, meaningful ways to the family who offers her what she's been missing: security, attention and love.

Cookie does not need to be adopted with Sugarplum or Cocoa. However, we always love to share when cats arrive at the shelter with feline family members in case an adopter may be interested in keeping part of this trio together in a forever home.

Street life is dangerous and Cookie is truly one smart cookie to have survived it. Now she deserves a cozy home, a soft place to rest and people who will cherish her as much as she deserves. Could you be the safe harbor Cookie has been so brave and patient enough to wait for?

The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need!
