Cola's Story

Hi there, I’m Cola—I’m a young tuxedo girl, about a year old, and I’m loving my new indoor lifestyle after being found living in a barn this summer!

I’m a sweet gal who loves to follow her humans around, trotting after them from room to room, and bringing my toys with me wherever I go. I love cuddling next to my foster parents on the couches, and I keep them company when they’re working from home! Really, I am never too far away from my people, and I don’t like being alone. It’s partially because I navigate the world a little differently, you see… my finder suspected it, and an eye specialist confirmed that I am mostly blind!

While I can see changes in light, I can’t really see shapes or movement. You’d never guess that though, because one of my favorite activities is chasing crinkly balls all around my foster parents' three-story house! After spending a couple of weeks learning the layout, I have no trouble running up and down the stairs, carrying my toys with me, and exploring the world, just in my own special way! I am a confident kitty, and I don’t let anything slow me down.

In addition to crinkly balls (I love toys that make noise!), I love playing with wand toys and strings and feathers! Catnip mice are a win in my book too. I can honestly entertain myself for hours just playing with my toy stash! And after I get tired, I’ll always find my humans, and sometimes I’ll even make myself comfortable on their chests and purr away while making biscuits!

And while I am blind, I don’t really consider myself special needs—but I am something really special. I’ll always greet you at the door with my sweet meows, purr like a little engine when you pet me, and love you with my whole heart. I just need someone kind and patient who’ll let me shine (and maybe a place with less stairs would be nice!).

Because I can’t quite keep tabs on other animals around me, I’d prefer to be your one and only fur baby. I can’t watch my back—but I’ll always have yours.

All of our cats are in foster homes. Please submit an application to start the process today!

https://humaneloudoun.org/adopt/adoption-application/

Humane Society of Loudoun County's Adoption Policy
We want to make sure each adoption is successful and that each animal is adopted into a family that is the right fit for everyone. All our animals are fully vetted and are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. For our adoption process we will arrange a meet and greet between potential adopters and the animal after an application is submitted. We ask for 2 personal references, check to make sure current animals are vaccinated then we schedule a virtual interview, which is an interview to discuss how to intergrate the new arrival into the household, food, equipment, etc. We do not have many requirements except that all cats/kittens be kept Indoors only, that they not be declawed, and that if any adoption does not work out for any reason, no matter how long it has been, that the animal be returned to us. Our adoption fee for cats and kittens is $150. Our dog and puppy adoption fee is $300. Check out our upcoming events here: http://www.humaneloudoun.org/events1.aspx
