COCOA's Story

COCOA is a handsome dark gray tabby who, at 12 years young, still has plenty of love to give. His beloved owner recently passed away, and while COCOA is understandably shy in his new surroundings, he blossoms with time. Once he feels safe, he loves attention, enjoys being petted, and is quite the talker—he has a LOT to say!

COCOA has lived happily with another cat and seems to enjoy feline companionship, so he may do well in a home with a friendly kitty.

COCOA does have a heart murmur (4/6). His ProBNP testing showed no significant strain or stress on his heart, so the cause of the murmur is currently unknown. He also has an eosinophilic granuloma (a non-cancerous mass) on his tongue that has been present for at least 9 years. Surgery and various medications were previously tried without success, so we are currently trying a limited-ingredient, allergy-friendly diet to see if it helps. This is not a new problem for him, and he eats just fine.

COCOA may need a little patience while he adjusts, but underneath that initial shyness is a sweet, affectionate, very vocal boy looking for a loving home where he can feel safe again.

SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR A MEET AND GREET:
- To submit an application directly, go to: animals-in-distress.org/adoptions
- As part of our adoption process, we ask all potential adopters to complete an application before scheduling any meet and greets.
