CLAY's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.
Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application. If you would like to try a Foster to Adopt trial, please fill out an Adoption Application.

If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application.

Meet Clay! This handsome teenager was rescued in May 2025 from east county along with his 3 siblings when we received a call from a good sam who mentioned a neighboorhood cat had her litter in one of their abandoned cars and was afraid they did not have great ventilation for the summer heat. We drove to pick up the litter and tried to trap mom but where unsuccess, we decided to go back another time for mom and took the litter of 4, 2 boys and 2 girls who had obvious signs of upper respiratory with crusty nose and eyes and all where just 1 pound which means they where approx a month old. These babies were cared for and brought back to a healthy weight and health. Once old and strong enouhg we sterilzied and placed them up for adoption. As of now only the 2 boys remain for adoption both Clay and Vincent who are very handsome well behaved cats.. They of course rotate to each other as siblings but love to play, cuddle or socialize with any of their other foster siblings. These 2 brothers ADORE their 'foster daddy' Chester who is also a rescue cat available to adopt who actually helped raise these boys and helped show them the ropes to become the good cats they are today. Would LOVE to find a home to adopt this trio together but we know that is pretty impossible so we DO request they are adopted into a family with another resident cat for their lifetime happiness. They grew up at casa de ARWOB and are good with both dogs and cats. They were a bit standoffish kitties when they where first rescued as their mom was a community cat who was not keen on humans and they learned some of that but after being under our care for months they have developed to wonderful cats. They are not scared of people and can easily approach, they are easy at the vet and are easy going chilled cats who are never looking for trouble. They are good young cats who love toys like all cats, the feather wand is their favorite, cat trees to play parkour, a good game of tag your it and of course watching out the window for their daily bird TV. They are clean ktities who have always had excellent cat litter box usage and are strong healthy cats. Vincent loves to watch you wash the dishes and is focused on the water in the sink, he loves to be petted, very gentle soul. Clay is a little more timid and doesn't seek as much human attention as Vincent BUT we are sure once in a home with their own humans that will improve significantly because they both enjoy being petted. They do love to purr and cuddle in bed where they are bound to come find you. These boys are neutered, felv/fiv negative and up to date on medical READY for adoption and you are welcome to request about our foster to adopt trials to learn about this program to make sure you love them as much as we do before you finalize their adoption. They do NOT need to be adopted together but a great pair if looking for 2 friends or siblings. If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application.
Dog Adoption Application
Cat Adoption Application

PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ARE IN THE MILITARY please fill out a short questionnaire in addition to the adoption application.
Military Questionnaire

Animal Rescuers Without Borders,Inc.'s Adoption Policy
The A.R.W.O.B. group prides itself on carefully placing animals into responsible and loving homes. We care about the present and future lives of the many unwanted dogs and cats and strive to improve them so they can come to know stability, love and safety. For more information, please visit our website at www.arwob.org. Our adoption procedure is as follows: 1) Adoption Application filed by applicant (visit the applications page to fill one out!). We typically adopt dogs and cats to individuals or families located in San Diego County, Orange County and Los Angeles areas. However, we may consider potential adopters within California, Arizona, and Nevada (within a reasonable driving distance) under certain circumstances. We require that the application be approved ahead of time and a home check must be done via FaceTime Skype (we do not accept videos for this purpose). We would also require the potential adopter to come to San Diego to meet the animal in person and we recommend bringing any current pet(s) to see if they will get along. If the potential adopter opts out of the meet-n-greet with their existing animal(s) and if the new pet does not get along with their existing pets, we would require the adopter to drive back to San Diego to return the animal -- we cannot provide transportation. Our adoptions are time sensitive and our policy is that we do not place holds on any of our rescues. PLEASE NOTE: We have implemented a new policy for those who are currently serving in the military. IF YOU ARE IN THE MILITARY please fill out a short questionnaire in addition to the adoption application. 2) A play date between the applicant and rescue (dog or cat). An applicant MUST have an APPROVED online adoption application filed BEFORE scheduling a playdate at the animal's foster home. The playdate will ensure that the potential adopter and the dog/ cat they are interested in is the right match. If the dog/cat does not possess the qualities and behavioral traits the applicant is looking for, we can continue the adoption process by meeting another rescued dog or cat. You can also meet the animal you are interested in at scheduled adoption events. Approved applicants have priority to meet an animal over others. Please read the events page for more information about meeting an animal at an event and possibly taking them home afterward. 3) Home checks to ensure the safety of our rescues (If applicable). An ARWOB volunteer will contact you upon approval of your application (and the playdate appointment) to schedule a visit to your home. Here we will take a look at where the cat/dog will be living. Your home and yard must be safe and secure. 4) Adoption Contract and ID from applicant If everything checks out during the homecheck and we believe our rescued dog/ cat will live happily there, we will go ahead and sign the adoption contract to makes the adoption official. 5) Adoption fee Fees are different for both dogs and cats and are based on age and, sometimes, on the breed. Please visit the adoption fees page for a break down of all. 6) Denial of adoption applications We screen all of our adoption applications thoroughly in order to find the perfect home for our rescues. There may be times when we feel the adopter is not a good fit based on the answer to questions on their application. Please know that we vet each applicant with the animal's best interest in mind. In the event that your application is denied, you will receive an email letting you know of our decision. However, we will not be able to answer detailed questions regarding the denial.
