Clarence's Story

Clarence took up residence in a feral cat house in the backyard of a home just north of the Coca-Cola Lot in Speedway. He immediately showed his friendly side though. He is shy at first with humans, but once he realizes he has food and affection, he rubs on everything with his whole body. He is between 1 and 2 years old.

Clarence is still a little mad about being neutered and isn't eager to come out of the back of his cage. Because he was just neutered, he should not be around intact feline females for at least 3 weeks. (Our application states that all pets in the home must be spayed/neutered anyway.) In addition, his urine will have a strong odor for the same period, while the testosterone works out of his system.

Clarence should be an only pet. He is not dog tested or kid tested, but his timid temperament tells us that he probably wouldn't do well with the unpredictable behavior of dogs or small children. We don't think he will do well with other cats as he had to fight for his territory while living outside. Because Clarence was living outside, we don't know if he is prone to marking. He hasn't exhibited that behavior at all in our care.

He will need to be watched around doors until he is used to his new home, and the adopter is sure he won't try to get back outside.

Clarence is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He has also been given dewormer and flea preventative.
