Clara's Story

Clara and her siblings, Crystal and Mikey, came to ARC as young kittens trapped in a trap-neuter-release project. Although extremely shy and frightened, they had a tender and affectionate side to them. So... they went to foster, over time their personalities came out and now, still a bit shy, they warm up much faster and are soooooo sweet!

Clara is the most adventurous and brave of her three remaining littermates. She is the first to explore new places, venture towards new people and experience new situations. At her second foster home (moved to increase socialization), it only took her two days to start coming out to her foster family and getting to know them (Temptations helped!). Very soon after, she was a complete love bug!

Clara loves to give and receive affection, sit in laps and give kitty nose boops! She also likes belly rubs, on her terms of course. She is okay to be picked up and held for a moment, but does not like it for very long, she is a girl of action! She is also very playful, she enjoys toys and interactive play with both her siblings and with her people.

To top it all off, Clara is a bit vocal. When she gets excited, she will chirp and purr, SO cute!

Clara and her brother Mikey were adopted together, but after a big shift in the family (marriage, kids and a move), she had a hard time adjusting the the change. She seemed to do well with the kids and loved having her brother with her, but she was showing some signs of stress that the family could not manage. We think she would love a friendly kitty sibling in her new home or a family that could give her lots of love and affection.

Interested in meeting Clara. Animal Refuge Center Inc.'s Adoption Policy
The Animal Refuge Center screens all prospective pet adopters before adoption. Adopters must be prepared to provide references in order for an application to be approved. We ask for a veterinarian reference for current or past pets and we inquire as to your responsibility in keeping up with spay, neuter, vaccinations and other prevention. It will make the process faster and smoother if you ensure the information provided is accurate. Adopters must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid ID, have a phone and be responsive. Adopters must be able to financially and emotionally provide the appropriate daily care, as well as required vet visits for regular check ups and in the case of illness or injury. Adopters who rent or lease their homes must have approval from landlords or property managers to bring a new pet into the home. No gift adoptions. The primary guardian must be present for the adoption and must agree to the terms of the adoption by signing the adoption contract. Incomplete or inaccurate applications are subject to disapproval for that reason alone. Pets are family members and deserve the same respect, planning and care as any other member of a home. Please be sure you and your family are ready to commit to a pet for their entire life (up to 20+ years), including difficult times, moving, a break up, etc. We understand that life happens, but it is important to know that animals surrendered to us and other rescues/shelters are scared and confused, and they can become very depressed and sick. When you adopt you are responsible for their health and wellbeing, do right by them and they will do right by you!
