Claire 's Story

Hi… my name is Claire.

I’m eight years old, and everyone here says I’m a sweetheart. I think that just means I love gently, deeply, and with my whole heart. I’m a beautiful grey tiger girl with soft stripes and kind eyes, and I’m very social—sweet, flirtatious, and calm in a way that makes people slow down when they sit with me.

I came here in early/mid January after my person passed away. This video was shot right after I just got back from the veterinarian after getting everything up-to-date so they wanted to keep me calm. That’s why I’m still in my cage, but that doesn’t mean I’m super friendly… because I am.

One day I had a home, a routine, and a heart I belonged to… and then everything changed. I’m still learning how to grieve, but I haven’t stopped loving. I don’t think I ever could.

The shelter has made me stressed, and they let me cage free, which is helping. But I started to lose some fur, the veterinarians say it’s because of the stress I’m going through, nothing medical, so I really really would love a wonderful loving home of my own . As you can see I can be picked up …I won’t say I love it when it gets to be too long or an extended period of time, but a nice short and sweet hug is great, as I am a love bug.!! I am flirty and make air biscuits and show my belly regularly and try to show you how much I adore you and crave attention.

What I want now is something quiet and steady. A calm home where voices are soft, laps are welcoming, and love goes both ways. I’m the kind of cat who will sit near you, brush against your hand, and look up at you like you’re my whole world—because you will be.

I’m spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all my vaccines. I’ve taken care of all the practical things. What I’m missing is the most important part: you.

Guess what? A wonderful woman named Judy fell in love with me that couldn’t adopt me, and paid part of my adoption fee for the right home and right owner(s)

If you have room in your heart for a gentle soul who just wants to love and be loved back, I promise I’ll be grateful every single day.

I’m Claire… and I’m ready to come home.

For more information, you can go to our web site and fill out an online application at: thepetrefuge.org and print and fill it out and email back to ShelterManager@thepetrefuge.org.. Filling out an adoption application is always the first step. If you have questions or want to check on the status of your application, please call the shelter at 401-294-1115.
