Cinco's Story
Cinco is a floofy, outgoing boy with a very simple wish: to have a family of his own. He takes great pride in keeping himself in top floof condition and does an excellent job grooming that beautiful coat. And then there's his wonderfully big, adorable head — once you start petting him, you may not want to stop. Cinco is happiest simply being near his people, soaking up affection and enjoying every head scratch he can get.

Cinco was abandoned outside and left to fend for himself, for at least eight months, never knowing where his next meal might come from. Eventually, he discovered a resident's feeding station for feral cats. He would quietly appear late at night, after everyone had gone to bed, hoping there might be a few leftovers waiting for him. Wanting to help him, the resident trapped and brought him inside.

Cinco received veterinary care and was found to be FIV positive. FIV does not prevent Cinco from having a long, happy life. It is important to note that FIV positive cats can live a healthy, normal lifespan, even as long as cats who never contract the disease. Furthermore, Cinco can safely live with other indoor cats, as FIV does not spread through ordinary cat contact such as, sharing cat supplies (litter box/shared food/ water bowls), casual nose to nose contact, and grooming another cat. Most likely, Cinco contracted FIV through a deep bite wound during his time trying to survive outdoors.

Despite everything he has been through, Cinco remains remarkably loving and trusting. More than anything, he hopes to find a family who will love him forever.
