Chopstick's Story

Update Feb 26th, 2026 - Chopstick has arrived at the Pet Valu, 920 Upper Wentworth across from Limeridge Mall. He will be a little scared at first until he gets used to his new surroundings.
Please read Chopstick's biography and requirements needed for adopting. If you think he would be a good match and you meet the criteria then please go to avacats.org and fill out an online application form, an adoption coordinator will be in touch. Please choose the Hamilton/Burlington location.
Feb 6th, 2026 - Chopstick was adopted as a kitten just over 3 years ago. He was doing great until they had a baby and the activity etc was too much for him. He is a friendly cat once he gets to know you but doesn't like busy areas or loud noises. He was very stressed. He likes to play with springs, mice, feather wand toys and is good with other cats. He was very stressed at his former home and was urinating outside the box. His urine was tested and everything fine, it was the house and the noisy young children. He was surrendered back to us and went to a foster home where it was nice and quiet. He never had one accident. He went back to our vet to have his vaccines updated, flea treated, dewormed and we tested his urine once more. Everything was fine, and it was decided that he go back up for adoption . We are looking for a quieter low key home where he will receive the attention he needs. His foster mom says " Chopstick is very friendly, and cuddly. He loves pets and kisses and loves to play with anything he finds in the room. He loves to climb high surfaces so he would love a cat tree in his new home. He loves Churros, canned food . He gets scared of strangers and hides in his safe spot until he relaxes and comes out for pets. He follows his foster mom around and sleeps on the couch right next to her. He is obsessed with lickable treats? " Does he sound like the cat for you. If you are thinking of having children, in the future Chopstick is not for you. Please give this sweetie a 2nd chance. He is just under 4 years old. He will need someone with patience to let him find his way at his own pace, but once he does you will be rewarded ten fold. Let's get this sweetie his new home. AVA has an indoor and no declaw policy.
