Chonkers's Story
She needs somebody to match her freak- is it going to be you? Don’t let this tranquil Tuxedo exterior fool you, this girl is something else and she needs someone that’s going to bring the same intensity to the relationship.

After spending who knows how many years on the streets and having likely countless litters, this sweet girl found her way to us after a kind-hearted Good Samaritan was able to catch this super pregnant gal. Just two weeks later, in early Spring last year, Chonkers gave birth to six sick and tiny kittens, and just days later all of the kittens had passed. It was awful. Another heartbreak in the string of how many for this sweet mama? After her devastating loss, we promised Chonkers she’d never have to endure anything like that ever again. However, getting Chonkers spayed turned into quite the journey, because upon her first vet visit, we learned that Chonkers was a lot older than we had initially believed - and she had a fairly significant heart murmur.

After two echocardiograms, daily Atenolol, and Churus (in moderation) as a reward, we are pleased to report that Chonkers little heart muscles are growing stronger, and in July last year she was able to get her spay as promised.

In the time that we have cared for Chonkers and helped to nurse her back to better health, we have learned that this gal is suuuuuuper affectionate, curious, playful, and even a little needy at times, when it comes to her human companions. She loves to look directly in your eyes 👀 with foreheads touching-it’s intense. And if she cannot be on your lap She needs to be in close proximity (with no other cats around). Chonkers also loves to look out the window and chitter at birds, lovesssss to eat, and is a huge fan of catnip.

While Chonkers can likely get along with any and all humans, she is very much a one-cat kinda girl- and after all that she’d been through, she deserves no less.

Chonkers is spayed, up-to-date on all her shots, microchipped and has been Heartworm, FeL-V, + FiV tested. Chonkers will need to remain on a daily dose of Atenolol, and it is recommended that she have, at least, bi-annual echocardiograms to monitor her heart health.
