Chipie's Story

Chipie is on the hunt for a companion who will enjoy her love of zoomies. Next up, cardboard boxes and wand toys are probably her favorite things. She also loves meeting and snuggling with people!
If you are sitting or lying down, Chipie will be right there with you, guaranteed. If you have a blanket on your lap, be prepared not to move for a good long time! Chipie will let you know if she hasn't gotten enough cuddle time in, often by jumping into your arms from a high surface. Before you know it, your frequent visitors will become Chipie's best friends.

Chipie is a very special girl who is looking for a very special adopter! This outgoing lovebug has a condition called pica, which means that she sometimes eats things that she shouldn't.

To manage this condition, Chipie takes regular meds (which she loves!), eats a tasty prescription diet, and is looking for a home that can limit her access to clothing, bedding, and plants. Chipie would love to live with a person or people who are around most of the day, because she adores company and thrives with tons of play and mental stimulation.

Chipie is doing very well on her medications and is looking forward to finding her forever home! Does your house need a Presence with a capital P? Chipie might be the girl for you! Contact us if you're interested in adopting Chipie or have questions about her specific needs.

______________________________________________________________________
If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-cats.html

City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats.

Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.

Cat specific vetting: Rabies, FVRCP. Cats are tested for FIV and when age appropriate, but not when born to a FELV/FIV negative mother in foster care.

Kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. Kittens born in care to a negative mother will not receive a FIV/FeLV test. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles.

City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue's Adoption Policy
All of our dogs and cats are in private foster homes. If you are interested in meeting one, please complete our application. Profiles provide all current information we know about the dogs and cats in our care. OUR ADOPTION PROCESS APPLICATION: Interested adopters should fill out an application for the cat(s) or dog(s) you are interested in. Only one application is required, and it applies for all cats or dogs listed on your application. If you are interested in adopting both a cat and a dog, you must complete an application for each type of animal. Important Note Regarding Timing: We screen all applications to find what we believe will be the best environment for each particular cat or dog. If we believe that we currently have a potential match for you, our typical response time is within a week. Please keep an eye on your spam folder! APPLICATIONS COUNSELOR: Applicants who pass the initial screening will be assigned a volunteer applications counselor to work with you throughout the process. REFERENCE CHECKS: If applicable, CDCK will call the applicant’s veterinarian to ensure that previous pets have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and well cared for. CDCK will also call personal references listed on the application. RENTERS/CONDO OWNERS: For renters, CDCK will check with an applicant's landlord to ensure that cats and/or dogs are permitted and that the cat or dog of interest wouldn’t violate any size or breed restrictions. We also review condo association rules regarding pets. ADOPTION CONTRACT: If the applicant is approved for adoption and decides to adopt the cat or dog, CDCK and the prospective adopter will enter into an adoption contract. The applicant will be required to pay an adoption fee, which helps cover our costs from spay/neutering (if age appropriate), microchipping, vaccinations, and any other veterinary attention needed while in our care.
