Chief's Story

Chief is an extremely friendly tabby ang white young adult. This boy was observed by a person who feeds the ferals to have moved comfortably between a couple of nearby colonies so she named him Chief. Chief has tested positive for FIV but here at PAWS we know that FIV kitties can live perfectly normal lives as long as their family is attentive & brings them to the vet should they show any signs of illness (as you would with any pet). This sweet guy craves human attention and we've yet to try him out with other friendly kitties but he hasn't shown any reason for us to believe he won't continue to live peacefully with other nice cats. Chief is microchipped, vaccinated, neutered & ready for his furever home!

This kitty has tested positive for FIV, similar to HIV in people. It can not be transmitted through casual contact, sharing food, water, or a litter box. It can not be transmitted to people or other pet species. It is typically only transmitted to other cats via a deep bite wound. FIV positive cats can live long and healthy lives! They do tend to have more dental issues and absolutely must be kept safely indoors at all times.
