Chickadee's Story
Chickadee is a kitten from the bird litter as they were found outside the Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia. Chickadee has come along way from the shy kitten she was when she first arrived. She has really opened up and embraced the luxuries of living in a home, but still holds on to some cautious behaviors from living outside. Because of this, Chickadee really doesn't like it when hands come down and reach for her head for a scratch. However, if you begin petting her from the side or back and work up to her head, she will purrrrr away with utter enjoyment. Chickadee photographs as if she is doing her best David Rose impression and showing exactly what she is thinking on her face. She is a professional biscuit maker, a lap warmer, and nighttime companion. Once she knows she is in a safe place with you, she will become your new best friend.

Edit 6/15/25: Chickadee has developed into such a delight! Despite still not liking hands coming directly for her head to give her a scratch and still being shy around visitors, she has become much more outgoing and confident in her day to day life. Chickadee has developed a couple routines with her human. She likes getting lap time and scritches and drinking water from the faucet when her human is in the bathroom getting ready. Like her brothers, she will now help with wet food meal preparations on occasion. Chickadee also loves being out on the catio enjoying the nice weather and watching the critters in the yard.

She is fixed, combo and rabies vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated, and has combo tested negative. Would you love to have her stay with you furever? If so, please fill out an application here: https://www.appalachianpeacepaws.org/adopt
