Chessie's Story
Chessie came to Good Mews when her previous rescue shut down. She spent a few weeks in a foster home where she established herself as top cat right away. Chessie is a great cat with a strong personality. She is very friendly and confident in new situations. She likes to give head butts and receive kisses. She's not crazy about being picked up (support her back legs!) but she does like being held. She loves to play with wand toys and gets very excited when she can take one away from you and run away with it. She's got a great purr and is a champion maker of biscuits. She does, however, want to be the queen cat in the house. She doesn't start fights but does hiss and growl to let other cats know she is the boss. Because of this, she may do better in a home without other cats.

Chessie was adopted and lived in her home for a year, but then was sadly returned due to biting. Her adopters said she is very sweet and loving, but would at times bite, unprovoked. Because of this, Chessie will need to go to a home with people who have a lot of cat experience and not someone’s first cat. It would also be best that she not go to a home with young children. If there are older children in the home, they need to have some experience with cats. Biting can sometimes give a cat a bad rap, but in a home, with experienced cat people, willing to work with her, she may stop. Honestly, we don't know the reason Chessie bit her previous guardian, so she may not have the same behavior in a different home.

Chessie is a fantastic cat that deserves love and a family to call her own.

Chessie is part of the Kitty Keeper program!
