Cheryl's Story

Cheryl was brought to the shelter as a feral young adult and has been in our care for 9 years. We are committed to her wellness despite her reduced human socialization over the years and wish to find her a home where she can spend the rests of her days quietly, in solitude, in peace. She makes feline friends quite easily, but humans make her really nervous. She is no longer aggressive towards humans, though likes to let you know she wants space. She responds to treats and will be friendly when catnip is administered by our volunteers. She mostly spends the day looking through the windows and surveying the room from the tallest cat tree. If you have space at your home and don't mind a quiet, well behaved and beautiful senior lurking around, consider give Cheryl a chance. Perhaps she will bloom outside shelter conditions! Lighthouse Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy

We do not adopt on a first-come-first-serve basis, but rather by the best match between dog and family, although we will factor in the order of applications if there are equally good matches. Visitors at our shelter are by appointment only and are limited to those who have submitted applications. 1. Submit Application: https://www.lighthouseanimalshelter.org/application-instructions 2. Volunteers review your application. 3. After review, you will be contacted to set up an appointment. 4. Home Check: Some pets require a home visit. In some cases, a home visit is not required. It depends on factors such as fencing, children, & other pets. 5. Sign Adoption Contract: You will receive all medical paperwork, a new leash and collar, and food your new pet is used to eating.
