Cheeks aka Chubby Cheeks's Story

Hello prospective mom and/or dad,

My name is Cheeks aka Chubby Cheeks (among many other nicknames haha). According to Mrs. Vet, I am approximately 5 years old. I have had a full series of testing/shots, neutering, microchipping, etc. Besides being FIV positive, I am healthy as a horse! For those of you who aren’t familiar with FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), don’t be scared away just yet as I show no signs/symptoms at all, nor have I since I found my way to the rescue (CNY Cats) several months ago. I don’t need any special food or medication. Since FIV cannot be transmitted to humans, dogs, or other pets (besides cats), I am not a risk to humans or other pets in any way (besides a potential overdose for being too much of a love machine). The only exposure risk I have is to other cats since “FIV is transmitted primarily by bite wounds, transmission from an infected cat to an uninfected cat is much less likely in households that have stable social structures (i.e., households in which cats do not fight)” - according to the Cornell Feline Health Center @ https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departments-centers-and-institutes/cornell-feline-health-center/health-information/feline-health-topics/feline-immunodeficiency-virus-fiv

Now that I have put all of your FIV concerns to rest, let me continue to tell you a little about myself and how much of an absolute love machine I am! Several months ago, a very nice lady who was feeding me and my friends on her porch, noticed that I was in very poor condition. She made several calls and finally found a rescue who would help me out. CNY Cats came and scooped me up and took me right to the vet for a full exam, testing/shots, neutering, microchipping, etc. Although it took me a few weeks to gain some weight and get back to my normal self, I am now living the good life and am as healthy as they come (FIV be damned lol). I hate to brag, but in addition to being handsome as all hell, I am also one of the friendliest four legged men out there on the market! Although the rescue only lets me interact with my four legged siblings through my deluxe two unit “cage” with window views for keeping track of squirrels and birds, they can tell that I am very lovable toward other cats and wouldn’t hurt a fly (mice are a different story though). With that being said, I feel like I would get along with any humans, regardless of age. As far as other cats go, since I do have the pesky FIV, I should probably be a single cat OR even better yet, you could adopt me and another FIV positive brother and sister! If you need helping finding me an FIV positive friend, just let me know and I’ll check my rolodex.

Long story short, I am a very good boy who deserves an awesome home! My caretakers are very protective of me, so it is important that I find the right person who will take care of me for years to come, whether you are near me in Central NY or across the globe. If you’re my furever person, we’ll find a way to connect! #adorable, I know.

Ps – My people are asking for $100 (tax deductible since we are a non-profit charity) to adopt my cute butt. Trust me, this ain’t nothin compared to the luvin you’ll get outta me! But really though, it’s not about the money at all. They just want to know that whoever wants to adopt me is doing it for the right reasons and will be able to take care of me furever!

Pss – if you wanna see how much of a love machine I truly am, check out my vid! Please note that I may or may not have been high on catnip at the time…lol

Sincerely,

Chubby Cheeks, aka your future four legged son
