Cheddar's Story

Meet Cheddar, the sweet orange gentleman!

Don't let his permanently sad-looking face fool you, this handsome boy is anything but gloomy. Beneath those soulful eyes is a playful, affectionate cat who loves attention and enjoys spending time with people.

His story is one of resilience and second chances. He was found in a Salad and Go driveway, sick, malnourished, and struggling to survive. Despite his rough start, he never gave up. With plenty of love, patience, good food, and care, he has blossomed into the sweet, affectionate boy he is today.

He's the kind of cat who can melt your heart with a single look, then surprise you with a burst of playful energy moments later. Whether he's chasing toys, exploring his surroundings, or curling up nearby for some love and companionship, he's always ready to brighten your day.

This charming orange tabby has a gentle personality, a loving nature, and a face that will make you want to scoop him up and tell him everything is okay. If you're looking for a loyal companion with lots of affection to give, this sweet boy may be the perfect addition to your family.

Cheddar is FIV-positive (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), but don't let that discourage you. FIV+ cats can live long, happy, healthy lives with proper care. To ensure the best fit, he should be adopted as a solo cat or into a home with other FIV+ cats.

After everything he's been through, this special boy deserves a loving forever home where he can finally leave his difficult past behind and spend his days being cherished.

Sad face. Happy heart. Endless love.

Safe Haven for Animals's Adoption Policy
Our Adoption Process We have a clear and well-structured process in place to find the best possible homes for our animals in need. This process begins with you filling out our Adoption Request Form designed to collect important details and insights from potential adopters so we can match you with the best possible pet. Once complete, we move forward by setting up a visit for you to meet our cats in person. One of our Adoption Coordinators will provide a tour of our facility and introduce you to our available cats. Our adoption coordinators have extensive knowledge of every cat and can help answer questions about individual personalities, habits, and special needs. Should you decide to choose a specific cat during this meeting, we then schedule a home visit to deliver your new pet, ensure it’s a safe and suitable environment, and provide a care kit for the new pet. To support a smooth transition, we also make a follow-up call about a week later to see how everything is going to ensure both the adopter and the cat are settling in well together.
