CHARLOTTE's Story

Dear Potential Adopter,

We’d like to introduce you to a very special kitty named Charlotte, and we hope that her story and personality will touch your heart.

“Gentle paws, a heart so shy,
In quiet corners she’ll lie.
But when she knows your love is true,
Charlotte will snuggle close to you.”

Charlotte is a timid and sweet cat who thrives in peaceful environments. She’s looking for a calm, quiet home where she can truly blossom. Loud noises and fast movements can make her uncomfortable, but with patience and love, she becomes a true snuggle bug. You’ll often find her curling up beside you in bed or lounging in a sunny spot by the window, soaking in the warmth.

Charlotte would do best in a home without children, and she appreciates the company of calm dogs or cats who share her quiet nature. She enjoys her meals throughout the day, so leaving food out for her to graze is ideal.

While Charlotte has made herself at home in our sanctuary, we know that there’s an even better place for her—a forever home where she can get more individual attention. Charlotte’s journey began when she was rescued as the sole survivor of a litter found under a fishing pier in southern Maryland. Now she’s safe in a foster home in Indian River County, Florida, and she’s ready to meet her perfect match.

If you feel that your home could be Charlotte’s safe haven, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Be sure to ask about the Jones Kindness for All Fund, which supports her adoption process.

Thank you for considering giving Charlotte the life and love she deserves.

Warm regards,
The Dedicated Team at Duffie’s Dames Animal Rescue & Sanctuary

Duffie's Dames Animal Rescue & Sanctuary's Adoption Policy
DUFFIE’S DAMES Adoption Process & Fees Thank you for your interest in adopting one of our rescued animals! As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we work tirelessly to save the lives of cats, dogs, puppies, and kittens, and find them loving, forever homes. Here is a simple breakdown of our adoption process and fees: 1. Application Fee To begin the adoption process, we ask for a $25 non-refundable application fee. This fee helps cover administrative costs, including: • Reviewing applications • Conducting background checks • Communicating with potential adopters (calls, texts, and emails) • Keeping track of paperwork and maintaining records While this fee is non-refundable, it serves as a donation that supports our mission to rescue and care for animals in need. It ensures that we can continue dedicating our resources to each application with care. 2. Adoption Questionnaire After submitting the application fee, you will need to complete our Adoption Questionnaire. This helps us get to know you better, understand your home environment, and determine the best match for your family and lifestyle. 3. In-Home Meet-and-Greet Once your application is approved, and we have a potential match for you, we will schedule an in-home meet-and-greet. This allows you to meet the animal in your home environment to ensure compatibility and provide the best chance for a successful adoption. 4. Final Adoption Contract If the meet-and-greet goes well, and you decide to move forward with the adoption, a final adoption contract will be filled out, solidifying the adoption of your new pet into your home. 5. Adoption Fees Once the adoption contract is signed, the adoption fees are as follows: • Kittens: $100 - $150 • Adult Cats: $50 - $100 • Puppies: $200 - $350 • Adult Dogs: $100 - $250 These fees help cover the cost of veterinary care, vaccinations, spaying/neutering, microchipping, and any necessary treatments. 6. Payment Methods Adoption fees can be paid by: • Check • Zelle • Cash Please ensure that all payments are completed at the time of signing the adoption contract. 7. Special Programs We offer Angel Donor Programs, where generous donors have contributed to cover part or all of the adoption fees for specific animals. Please inquire about these opportunities when applying. 8. Additional Contributions Any amount that you are willing to donate above the adoption fee is greatly appreciated. Your donations help us continue our work by providing for the next animal in need of rescue, medical care, and a loving home.
