Charlie's Story

Charlie is about 15. He was living with an elderly recluse, apparently as an indoor only cat. Upon her death, an unscrupulous person threw him outside. A woman who spays and feeds feral cats in the area noticed that Charlie was being abused by the other cats and seemed traumatized. She convinced my mother-in-law to take him a couple of years ago, which was a good idea except that she now has dementia and cannot care for him.

The first few months he literally sat on her bed and did not explore the house. He seemed traumatized, but he always liked to be petted. Now he is more adventurous; he walks all over the house and has even enjoyed going out on the deck. He always used the litter box. He is shy, but very sociable once he knows you. He doesn't really like other cats but managed to live with my MIL's other cat for two years. He absolutely loves to be petted. He's sedentary; he loves to sit on the couch next to his person for pets and he always purrs when petted. He doesn't like to be picked up though.

He's been around a small dog and he's fine. Other than that we don't know.
In sum, he is shy, but sociable and sedentary. He would make a good companion cat for an older or disabled person who is home a lot. Or, someone who lives in an apartment and thinks they don't have room for a cat. Charlie is sedentary and doesn't need much room. He's a sweet boy and would be grateful for a home.
As you can see in the picture, he's big, and white with black markings.

He's been to the vet and the vet says he's generally healthy for his age. He does have an abdominal lump, probably a benign lipoma. He doesn't take any meds.

My phone number is 541-330-3998, email pamallyn@gmail.com
