Charlie's Story

Hey there! My name is Charlie. I am a 6 year old orange tabby boy! Yes I may look like a distinguished older gentleman, but don’t let that fool you — I’ve still got plenty of love and personality packed into this handsome body and a story to tell.

My journey began when my saviors at Save a Gato who found me abandoned nearby their facility. While that may sound heartbreaking, it turned out to be my lucky break. When I was rescued, I was very underweight, tired, and not feeling my best at all - truley skin and bones. I could barely eat and was suffering from severe mouth infections. The scars I carry, including missing fur around my neck and face, tell the story of battles I faced before help arrived.

Thankfully, Save a Gato didn’t look away. Instead of giving up on me, they gave me a chance. My journey to recovery was long and difficult beginning at my first vet visit. Because of malnutrition, I had a severe mouth infection, and most of my teeth had to be removed to relieve my pain and improve my quality of life. As if that weren’t enough, I was also found to have heartworm — an uncommon diagnosis for cats in this area. I spent nearly a year in foster care completing treatment, taking my medications, and healing. Today, my heartworms are gone, my weight is back, and I’ve been fully cleared by the veterinarians. I’m healthy, comfortable, and ready to begin my next chapter.

I do have a few unique features, like missing most of my teeth and a little hair around my neck and face, but don’t worry, I eat just fine with smaller pieces of dry food, wet food and can live a completely happy life now that I am healed. I rock my one-of-a-kind look with confidence. Honestly, it just adds to my charm.
What truly defines me is my heart. I am incredibly affectionate and loving. I adore being petted, cuddled, and carried around like the big baby I secretly am. After everything I’ve been through, all I want is love — and I have so much of it to give in return.

If you’re willing to open your home to a gentle, middle-aged soul with a resilient spirit, I promise to fill your life with warmth and devotion. I just might be the perfect match for your family 🐾💙

Although we are located in Puerto Rico, we can relocate our cats to mainland US through flight Angel programs, we don’t charge a fee to arrange the trip, the adopters are responsible for the pet fee charged by the airline.
