Charcoal's Story

Meet Charcoal, a queen looking for her forever castle! She's a beautiful female tortie estimated to be close to 3 years old. This girl has quite the story to tell and she's ready for the next chapter to be all about finding her forever home. Charcoal came to us in mid-February from another animal welfare organization. She had been found fending for herself in the parking lot of a busy grocery store and she wasn't alone. This brave mama was caring for three tiny kittens all on her own. Talk about one tough mama! When Charcoal was first rescued, she definitely let everyone know she had a little spice to her personality. After everything she had been through, who could blame her? She is a queen who knows what she wants and what she wants now is a quiet castle to call her own. What exactly is a tortie? "Tortie" is short for tortoiseshell. Tortie cats have beautiful coats made up of a mix of black, orange, red, cream, or other warm colors, creating a unique swirled or patchwork appearance. No two torties have quite the same markings, making each one wonderfully one of a kind. Charcoal is no exception! Charcoal's Forever Home Charcoal is looking for a cat-free, dog-free home where she can be the one and only feline royalty. She needs to be the sole cat in her forever castle and would do best without dogs, too. We also want potential adopters to know about Charcoal's medical history. You may notice a health waiver in her file. One reason she has been with us for so long is that she was in desperate need of a dental evaluation and full-mouth extractions. Charcoal was diagnosed with stomatitis, which is a painful condition where a cat's immune system causes severe inflammation and irritation inside the mouth. In simple terms, her mouth was hurting her...A LOT. Her dental treatment was an important step in getting her feeling better and giving her the chance to live a comfortable life. We know that medical information can bring questions and that's completely understandable. Our adoption consultant is more than happy to speak with you and answer any questions you may have about Charcoal and her health waiver. Most importantly, we want to set Charcoal up for success in her forever home. She has already been through so much, and this special girl deserves a home where she can relax, feel safe, and rule her kingdom in peace. Could your home be the forever castle this spicy little queen has been waiting for? The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need!
